How to stop GPU from working at 100%

I'm cracking some MD5 hashes with an old GTX285, and while cracking even web browsing laggs. Is there a way I can limit my GPU usage to say, 90-95%?

-u 8 will reduce the workload on your GPU.

--help and you should see it under Resources. You can reduce the usage even further to ~70% by entering -n 1.
