Sorry to bump an old thread but I'm in the market for new GPUs. Currently have 7 HD5970 that have seen better days, so I'm looking to pick up a 295x2 or four :-) any thoughts on cooling 4 of these in a enthusiast chassis (as in non-server chassis)? i would like to avoid custom water cooling if possible.

As NBZ hinted at earlier in this thread, the 295X will throttle aggressively when it reaches its max target temperature of only 75C. Custom water cooling is pretty much your only option.
