Info about hardware

Hello to all of you.
I'm new in this field, and need some advices from experienced users.

I have Dell lap top with i7 mobile version 2670 QM CPU @ 2.2 GHZ, N vidia 525m graphic card and 8 gb od DDR3 ram memory at 1333 mhz.

I'm cracking passwords with aircrack ng on The-Distribution-Which-Does-Not-Handle-OpenCL-Well (Kali) Linux with mu CPU power and after some time my lap top been too hot, also I get 2500 combinations per second average.

I read some articles on the internet, and I find some informations about cracking passwords with GPU power, and here I'm.

I also have a desktop PC with next configuration :

MB : ASRock B75M-GL
CPU : Intel Celeron G1610 @ 2.60GHz
GPU : Sapphire HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 256 bit
RAM : Corsair 4 GB @ 1600 mhz

I want to try this combination with Hashcat and try to crack password with power of my GPU, I also read on the internet that my card is very good for this kind of job.

Can someone tell me, what I can expect from this configuration ( how many combinations per second ), if internet connection is good quality ?

I want to try this because I heard that is the fastes way and I do not want to stress my lap top and CPU because it is too hot after 15 minutes of cracking, and I need much longer time to crack a password.

Thanks in advance for your comments, suggestions and help.

I also have a 5870 gpu and on wpa get 101.4 kH/s or 101,400 combinations per second

Wow :O ! Are you sure, that seems unrealistically fast ?
Do you use some additional settings or only go start attack ?

Of course I'm sure lol --> http://imgur.com/xD9Jbs6

Note: I have two 5870's

The main two switches to play with are --gpu-loops=num --gpu-accel=num

I have them at --gpu-loops=160 --gpu-accel=40 so my desktop don't lag too much.

use oclhashcat benchmark mode and test it for yourself.

Code:
oclHashcat64.exe --benchmark --benchmark-mode=1 -m2500

Edit: Forgot to mention, both my GPU's are overclocked with AMD Overdrive
GPU:900Mhz MEM:1300Mhz but when running WPA I lower memory to 900Mhz
which helps with temps.

Are you getting this ,,101,400 combinations per second'', with one card or two at the same time ?

did you look at the pic? I get 101,400 combinations per second, per GPU.

Yes, I see that, but I do not know what to think, because some people tell me that I will not get much improvements compared to my CPU, and that max combinations per second will go at approximately 10 000 combinations per second... And you have 10 x times more...

Definitely I must try this tommorow.

GPU is massively faster than CPU. Best GPU at the moment is a R9 290x and can do 203,000 on its own with one GPU core.

Ok, thanks, I will watch some tutorial about cracking with Hashcat and try it tommorow, then I will put results here.

Also don't forget the Wiki here and the GUI over at hashkiller.co.uk which isn't supported here.
