AWS GPUs are terrible for password cracking. Benchmarks have been posted previously before, but someone just posted benchmarks again today: https://hashcat.net/forum/thread-5071.html

It can also be quite expensive if you use it for any length of time. But if you don't have anything else and you don't want to buy a GPU for whatever reason, then AWS is one way to go.

What epixoip said.  As someone who has recently given AWS a try, I can tell you that AWS works, but it simply doesn't make financial sense at present. 

Firstly, there are limited instances of GPU available.  The more demand, the greater the price.  You're not going to get GPU time inexpensively.  At my last test, I was paying close to $3.50/hr. 

Secondly, you'll get far better performance by investing in your own quality cracking rig. 

I was getting just over 7000MH/s brute force against NTLM with AWS.  I get over 70000MH/s brute force against NTLM with my own modest rig...and far better performance than that is easily possible if you're not budget constrained.

If you model the price and performance of AWS against a custom rig, the wise choice becomes immediately obvious.
