Use whole RAM Colab
#1
I'm just using 1.49 out of 25 GB of memory from Colab while running a script? How can I use the maximum memory capacity to speed up the process? (-m 16800 -a 3 -w 4)
Thanks

Have you analyzed what resource is the bottleneck? Just a guess, but it's probably not RAM.

It would be useful give me a hint, I've tried different command options. I don't know which parameter modify.

When running a mask attack (-a 3), there should be no point why using more RAM would give you a better cracking performance, since the biggest part of candidate generation is done directly on your GPU.

Is there a faster hash type to increase H/s? I'm using 16800

I've tried with a handshake type hccapx with hash type 2500 and getting same results.

!hashcat -m 2500 -a 3 -w 4 --status MIWIFI_2G.hccapx --custom-charset1=abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ0123456789 ?1?1?1?1?1?1?1?1

any clue?

Thanks

@NoReply, so, that means 80000 H/s is the fastest Colab can go with a GPU and 25GB RAM?

In some cases it is possible to get a bit more performance modifying -n and -u but I do not have any experience with these. When running a mask attack, the most important factor is the raw GPU power you have available. Since it seems you have no information about the underlying hardware of Colab, it is hard to tell whether this is fastest or not. It also depends on the iteration count of your specific hashes.

This is the hardware of Colab

If I use hash mode 22000, it will go faster?

BTW: options -n and -u are outdated
