I would like to order hash cracking on my desktop computer running Windows 7 SP1 with a SSH Server and remotely access using my laptop to see the progress.
I can, of course, acces to my desktop via some remote control GUI tool like VNC or TeamViewer. But there could be several reasons for prioritize console access instead of graphics access:
- Speed: sending just text is dramatically faster in communications.
- Bandwith: mobile internet lines are expensives.
- Stability: remote connections sometimes drop down.
- Learning some more efficient method ;-) .
So, as long as Windows doesn't (or so I think) have a practical tool like screen or tmux, I would like to ask: isn't there any way to know at least the progress of some OCLHashCat running process?
Maybe by analyzing the corresponding logfile? Or the restore file?
Thanks you.

I think hashtopus can show you the progress:

Thanks you, undeath.
I am reading it, and it seems mostly a distributed GPU software for OCLHashCat.
Even if it shows the progress state, the docs say you will need a PHP server. I will wait for someone to suggest a simpler method, if there is.

uhhhh there is a windows version of screen available.
Just install the latest cygwin and install screen + openssh from the package manager.
Also, run the cygwin terminal in administrative mode and run "ssh-host-config" to setup sshd on Windows to access the machine remotely. It's mostly identical to linux. Except for a stupid issue that I just put up a ticket for.

That sounds great, Mangix. I have installed on my system Bitvise SSH Server right now; could it be enough?

Well, here are some feedbacks about what you suggested, Mangix:
- I have installed CygWin's OpenSSH listening on port 1022TCP. Seems to be working OK, but keypressing on this screen is ignored in remote SSH sessions.
- I have installed CygWin's Screen, and it seems to be working (mostly) OK, but I have the same problem with keypressing, so I can not know [s]tatus nor [q]uit the program (Ctrl+C leaves sometimes the process running in background :-P ).
I have checked with this SSH clients (I think all of them are in their latest version):
- Putty.
- GNU SSH command line tool (included in modern Ubuntu, for example).
- Bitvise SSH Client.
How did you solve the keypressing issue?
And, if possible, please give me the link to that stupid issue with OpenSSH Server on CygWin (I have had my problems too, and wanna know).
Thanks you.

I don't actually have a solution to this :\.

Another method to take unattended control of OCLHashCat could be the classic GNU Expect program, but it seems not to be working neither.
I have opened a thread about:
