I am no Linux Mint expert, but there should be a fglrxinfo command in your path too. Please test:
$ fglrxinfo # or sudo fglrxinfo

also google around for howtos: e.g. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=124449 for linux mint!
