I'm sorry, I'm new to hashcat. As there was no error message, I was assuming what I'm doing is working correctly....

Well, there was an error message but you chose to force hashcat to ignore it I know the error message is not ideal. It's been made clearer in the beta version (and next stable version).

For the record, I am able to successfully crack the hash.
