The overwhelming majority (if not 100%) of those wallet.dat files being sold or floating around on the net are fakes. Yes, the information is real, the blockchain tracks correctly, but the wallets are either "read only" or their private keys have been tampered with prior to the scammer encrypting them. So even if you do open that fake wallet.dat with the right password (still unlikely), you won't be able to move the coins to another wallet because the private keys are either missing or trashed. There is no known way to fully detect this type of tampering simply by scanning the encrypted wallet.dat file. The wallet.dat files look completely legit, but best case scenario 99% of them are fakes... Please don't take members for fools here with phrases like "my wallet".
