Hey!
I am considering buying this for hashcat as it packs a powerful gpu 3080.

I am wondering if having a dedicated/integrated GPU is going to be significantly slower/less powerful than having an eGPU of the same model of 3080?
Any advise is much appreciated.

Mobile versions of graphics cards are always less powerful than their desktop counterparts. Laptops are not recommended for use with hashcat.

Thank you for clarifying! Can you shed some light on why it is not recommended to use hashcat on laptop with the above mentioned specs in the laptop?

With the 30 series RTX cards they are very prone to throttling so if you are planning on using them, they will require good airflow to have continuous good hashrates.
Laptops, as mentioned, are not designed to be running at 100% continuously for several hours/days at a time. You will damage the hardware, causing it become a brick. If you're looking for a crackstation, build a desktop and have a cheap laptop for acquiring hashes simple as that! Also the benefits of a desktop also means you are able to expand.
