Hashcat reducing GPU life
#1
Yesterday I was cracking a hash and I saw my core clock and temperature was fluctuating rapidly. I was wondering if this (or hash cracking as a whole) would have a negative impact on my GPU's lifespan?

I'm using a Sapphire Nitro+ aftermarket RX480 if it helps, and I had to use --gpu-temp-disable to fix some sort of fan speed error.

Thanks.

Using my 6970 for years and it is still running without problems.

Well, yes and no. The fans on the graphicscard is the part that gets most punishment.. Just keep the GPU below 70c for a long life.
