Line length exception with example MD5 hash?

Ok it did not work at all with "ßßßß" and "?1?1?1?1" etc.

The problem is more basic I guess.
I just created a new container with vera-crypt


and it just failed again with:

How come that hashcat can't even crack this one?
I used hash_mode -m 13721 like it says in FAQ for SHA512 and pure AES.
