Is the "guide" posted in this thread ok to follow for setting up hashcat w/fan-control on a Ubuntu 16.04 LTS desktop environment? Got a new desktop pc at the office for doing some other types of design jobs (hence why I need the desktop environment) but I have a 1080ti to use in it, so want to be able to run hashcat as well when not using the pc for other stuff. But for now the fan control doesn't seem to work properly, hence why I wonder what the necessary steps are for running it on a desktop environment.
e; fan-control issue fixed, but the timeout patch solution at https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=timeout_patch doesn't work, created the 20-nvidia.conf file and added what needs to be added and rebooted, but no change.
Maybe related to using lightdm as display manager instead of xdm, or?
