Help with lotus ID password
#3
Looking for this online I mainly see posts on how to use the "Recover Password" (https://searchdomino.techtarget.com/tip/...s-password) with a special token that a Notes administrator has for your Lotus id file. Would that not be easier to try for your friend than to crack a password?

It would also help to know the version, as seen on https://blog.elcomsoft.com/2009/04/lotus...-cracking/ they made it harder to crack after version 8.5
Quote:In older versions, only 64-bit and 128-bit RC2 options were available, but now you can also use AES (128-bit or 256-bit). Well, encryption itself does not actually matter, but the problem is that password verification routine is not much better (worse?) as well: 5,000/10,000 SHA-1 cycles have been added.

Hashcat can crack these formats (see https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=example_hashes):
  • Lotus Notes/Domino 5
  • Lotus Notes/Domino 6
  • Lotus Notes/Domino 8
