Hashchat GUI?
#1
Question
Hi,

I just wanna ask a simple question, is Hashcat GUI not available now?

The last version I downloaded was Hashcat GUI 0.5.1, but it says on the web, that the version has been outdated. I also could not use my Hashcat GUI 0.5.1 (downloaded a year ago), and it said that the hashcat, oclHashcat-Lite, and oclHashcat Plus are all outdated.

If there's a new Hashcat GUI version, please show me the download link.

And, could you please make a little article or post to show the installation step by step and how to use the hashcat and the all things. I know there's a documentation file, but it really doesn't explain the very first step on how to use it. For example, a year ago when I was first using hashcat, I completely didnt know anything on how to use it with GUI-based, except just run the application through command line and with thousands of command variable/parameters. I figured myself and it worked after several days trying.

I believe Hashcat is a great tool for password cracking. But you might be want to update or re-design the web homepage content, so that it will give more clear information about Hashcat. For example, perhaps you can put all the hashcat tool and version (along with its explanation) on one page (on homepage). So that there will be no many menus "hashcat", "hashcat plus", etc .. please it really confusing. Sad

Thank you.

It's there and it's called a wiki:

http://hashcat.net/wiki/

The GUI was just an adapter tool for people who are too lazy to learn to use the command line. Also the GUI is made externally and not supported here.

Ridiculous comment!
Laziness is not only convenient features using the gui!

So far, worked perfectly!
However, now it is out of date!
What is the solution??

How to make your content update?

The solution is to download the new version as written.... http://hashcat.net/files/oclHashcat-1.01.7z

ofc there may be other reasons too to use the GUI and you should not be upset by the "too lazy" comment of mastercracker (of course it was just a joke) ... e.g. you could say that the GUI is:
- easier to learn
- easier/faster to use
- more integrated somehow (no black cmd-window)
- more windows-friendly
- ...
(well, there are also some good arguments to learn and use the command line version)

The real problem here is that 0.51 GUI is out-dated and the "other" GUI is not developed (nor maintained) by hashcat.net, but you get it from http://md5decrypter.co.uk/hashcat-gui.aspx

Therefore, this forum is not the right place to look for help about that GUI - nor ask why a outdated version doesn't work -, since nobody here can (help you to) update the GUI etc ... nor is it easy for us to help you to understand the problem w/ the GUI, since most of us use *hashcat without any GUI (but command line only).

Also this v0.5.1 GUI is out-dated (and it is clearly stated: http://hashcat.net/hashcat-gui/ ). Many features are missing there etc.

Therefore, if you insist to use the GUI, you need to look for this one http://www.md5decrypter.co.uk/hashcat-gui.aspx

Furthermore, it may be needed that you download the latest oclHashcat version (http://hashcat.net/oclhashcat/ ) and replace the oclhashcat 1.00 folder.

Again, oclHashcat 1.01 is the version of oclHashcat you should use. But if you want to use also a GUI (in "addition" to the command line version), you should have a look here http://www.md5decrypter.co.uk/hashcat-gui.aspx + update oclHashcat folder with the 1.01 content.

If you choose to go this way, you should report any problem there: http://forum.md5decrypter.co.uk/forum-view.aspx?f=8 and not here, because we can't really help you w/ this 3th party GUI questions + it is not the right place here.

Thanks for your response!

otherwise
hashcat-gui-0.5.1 has worked on 12/29/2013

Where should I copy?
Or maybe the library?

Like philsmd said, my comment was not to insult anyone and he is right by saying that there are other reasons to use the GUI but most of the people using it, but it's definitely one of them. Again philsmd clearly stated it:

GUI is not supported here. Ask on md5decrypter forums.
