Teamviewer works perfectly well. I have been using it a lot. You can even use your phone/tablet to check status.
I run tasks from my phone over 3G when i am not home, and it works very well.
I had a lot of problems with other remote softwares, such as MS RDP. So you should give it a try

Depends on your hardware.

Add -u 4096 and pick a workload for the GPU using -n X.

Also, note, WPA/2-PSK is 8 characters minimum, make sure a proper dictionary and rules are being used maximize GPU usage.
