Upload your avatar to https://imgur.com/ (huge image sharing site, way better than other hosts) using the 'new post' button on that site. Once you see your image there, right click it and select 'Open image in new tab' (or similar functionality in your browser). You should now have a link looking like https://i.imgur.com/ABcdefg.png.

Fill that into the URL for profile here, it's a good host that will work.

Trust me dude i tried all and i was not able to succeed so i came here for an answer and not to annoy anyone..

Not to Hijack the thread or anything, but I have a JPG that is exactly 100x100, with a size on disk of 4KB.

I've tried uploading the file directly, but I get:
Quote:Please correct the following errors before continuing:
  • The file upload failed. Please choose a valid file and try again.

I've tried linking the image through IMGUR, but I get:
Quote:Please correct the following errors before continuing:
  • The URL you entered for your avatar does not appear to be valid. Please ensure you enter a valid URL.

Looks like you're facing the same problem which i have over this past days. I hope admin will fix this issue soon enough

Yeah, maybe Atom disabled this feature recently.

I downloaded and changed my avatar to the one posted by level42. No problems occurred.

I repeated your actions exactly, saving the image from the link and trying to upload. I received this:

It's probably a usergroup-based permission setting. My guess is that new or users with very few threads/posts will probably not be allowed to change their avatar.
Something like mentioned here: https://community.mybb.com/mods.php?action=view&pid=127 or https://community.mybb.com/thread-206168...pid1254146 etc

I'm also not sure if it really would make sense that the user's browsers always tries to fetch the images from a remote server... this kind of image loading could be misused for user tracking (or at least viewer count tracking etc) if this forum would allow any images from any server etc. Not sure why the forum software (myBB) decided to not always download the avatars directly from hashcat.net (a cached version?), but from remote URLs instead.

This was my thought as well, no biggy. I just saw this thread and decided to give it a shot. Thanks @philsmd
