Dramatically drops hashrate on 1080ti
#1
So, i have a problem here. At firsts seconds of session hashcat performing like this:

But then it drops:

Hashrate drops to 900KH/s after 8 hours, but there is no visible reason to that.

OS: Windows 10 Pro 1909
Temperature: about 71 Celsius
GPU Frequency: about 1875 MHz
Utilization: 100%
Modes: -w 3, -w 4, -O, OpenCL, CUDA, with only one hash, --nonce-error-corrections=0, different versions of hashcat

I'll tried anything from google and from this forum and nothing helps.

Any suggestions?

Dropping to 900 kH/s from 1 MH/s after 8 hours seems normal to me, because it is just not possible to maintain the boost clock you are seeing in the first couple of seconds. You will also lose performance as the card heats up and consequently also your room has probably heated up after 8 hours. You could try to set your GPU fans and also chassis fans to 100% speed to squeeze out a little extra performance.

Although 71 Celsius doesn't seem that much, it is possible that the OEM of your card has set this as a target temperature in the firmware of the card. Since an OEM doesn't want to have a "loud" card, it may also limit the boost clocks (i.e. power consumption) a little instead of ramping up the fans to 100%, which obviously drops performance. I can see the same behavior on my KFA2 (/Gallax) 2070 Super.

This is not normal when hashrate drops at stable clock and temperature. Temperature in room about 27 celsius, in case about 34 celsius. Custom fan speed curve set in MSI Afterburner and looks like this:

Also, all available sensors monitored with Aida64 and HWinfo, so there is no overheating.

A little update.
Same situation confirmed on other physical machine with MSI 1080ti gaming X and latest drivers on windows 10 2004.

There must be a hardware throttle there? I have been running my geforce cards for 30 days straight and it does always between 59000 and 60000 h/s in Bitcoin hashing.

mmmh. i see the same problem on my rtx3080 with -m 11300
it starts with 45.000 - 52.000 H/s and drops after some minutes down to 17.000 H/s

i rent a 4xRTX3090 and there the same.. starts with 4x 74.000 H/s and drops later to 4x 25.000 H/s per card.

Wordlist, Bruteforce or Mask makes no differents...
i testet then with MD5 -O and no high drop... GPU is cool, fans are 60%, no CPU Bottleneck, lots of Ram free.

i testet again, and a Bruteforce attack with length of 12 is getting a stable Hashrate.
But Wordfile is slowing down.. is there anything to speed up wordfiles again? i testet with a Wordfile in a Ramdisk and still slow.... :/

to early posted...

after 4 Minutes its getting slower again... and after 5 minutes its slow down by ~40%
