I know that by default hashcat is set to run on MD5's.
Is there a way to run it against a plaintext file?

what?
I've got a list of passwords I want to use for statistical analysis.
The passwords are written in plain text with no encryption. I want to see how many passwords my algorithms pick up. That way I can see how many matches i get. Is there a file I can paste into the OpenCL directory to do this?

If you look at the algorithms Hashcat supports, you'll see that one of those algorithms is indeed Plaintext.
