It has been about 4 years since I have used desktop hardware in a cracking rig, but at a quick glance, I do not see any reason why you could not run 7 GPUs off of this board with high-quality risers. The trick would be finding the high-quality risers.

thanks for the reply,
so it might be a little risky.
can you please suggest some motherboard models which can handle this many graphic cards ?

another question:
what would be the proper gigabytes of RAM for 8x 1080 graphic cards ?

Well, there's always risks involved when building and operating a cracking rig. The important part is who absorbs those risks.

kinda.
i thought this might be excellent for us:

but it really is expensive!

is there any other choice?
any motherboard which can take 6 dual-slot graphic cards?

You more need a whole chassis, e.g. like this: http://www.asrockrack.com/general/produc...ifications

Nope, but I made positive experiences with them. You might need 90Ā°-PCIE-cable for GPUs with power supply on the top like the GTX1080 and there is even an optional hood available that provides necessary space. Solid platinum PSUs in redundant config. You don't need to put anything together, just stuff it with CPUs, some RAM, SSDs and the GPUS and off you go. Way better than getting a single mobo and nailing it to some chassis. Costs >3K but that's usually cheaper than the usual Supermicro-combos.

Here's a review that might be helpful or at least interesting.

We run a couple Tyan FT77 rigs with 4 x 1080's that have been great. They're older boards now to be sure, but since the GPUs are doing all the real work they've been fine. Really nicely designed boxes for this kind of thing.

I would expect they would handle running 8x no problem, but the speed is already blazing fast, and having the space between each one for airflow means we haven't really had to worry about heat at all.
